How To Clean Red Wine Stains From Carpets

A carpet’s worst nightmare could quite possibly be a red wine stain. Red wine stains can be extremely tough to get out, but if you act fast and use the proper products, you can easily get the stain out. In this post, we will share tips and tricks to help you save your carpets from the dreaded red wine stain.

Work Quickly to Remove Red Wine From Your Carpets

Just spilled red wine on your carpet? Address it straight away! It is best to clean up the stain immediately rather than to wait and let it settle into the fibers of your carpet; the longer you let the stain soak into your carpet, the harder it will be to get out.

Start by soaking up the majority of the wine by blotting it with a paper towel. Add water if necessary and continue to blot until you’ve cleaned up most of the wine. Now it is time to find a product to remove the stain altogether.

What Can You Use To Remove Stains?

You may have many of the household materials that can be used to remove the stain from your carpet. Take a look in your kitchen and see what you have!

Baking Soda: If you have baking soda in your fridge, you can make a quick paste to spread over the stain. Mix three parts baking soda and one part water until it forms a paste-like consistency. Once finished, apply the paste to the carpet stain, allowing it to dry completely, and then vacuum up the paste. If a slight stain remains, spray a strong carpet stain remover and follow the same procedure.

Club Soda: Club soda is another option if you have it in your household. Pour club soda onto the stain, letting it sit for a few seconds before blotting the area again. This will help absorb more of the red stain.

Dish Soap and Vinegar: Washing dishes? Well, you can use your dish soap to clean up the wine stain. Add a mixture of one tablespoon of dish soap and one tablespoon of white vinegar to a cup of water and mix well. Pour the mixture on the stain and blot consistently until the stain is removed.
